Approach Plate was founded in 2010 as a novelty t-shirt item for pilots but grew into much more.
The idea was inspired after Corey Risper came across an old box containing some flight maps from his days as an Air Traffic Controller in the Navy.
In 2009, after experimenting with different types of aeronautical charts, Corey had the idea to screen print some approach plate maps onto t-shirts and sell to aviation professionals. It was a hit!
As word of mouth spread and friends started to notice the unique and complex design they asked him to make t-shirts with their cities flight maps.
The approach plates had captured the attention of not only pilots but everyone else as well. This continued until he took a leap of faith and introduced it as a new clothing brand that offers you an alternative and unique way to represent your favorite cities.
That was the beginning of what would later become Approach Plate.
